How I deal with my depression

There are so many back stories as to why I have depression. I have been having therapies but instead of putting myself in a worst position, I am now giving myself reasons to why I deserve a better life and what can I do to achieve that.

A lot of people have depression and those people go through a lot of things in life. Those hard feelings may be caused either by family members, current life situations, relationships, being bullied, and many more reasons. I have had depression since I was in Thailand because I went to a religious boarding school and had nobody to look after me apart from my grandfather who now passed away but I would not like to go into detail on this. All of the things I go through with family, friends, and being bullied lead me to having depression but it has all now changed because I choose to think differently. This was straight after high school so I have had it for a very long time.

This is all purely based on my own experience with how I dealt with overcoming depression and why it has worked for me. This include many things that I do in life and decide to change in life.

1. Getting rid of negative thoughts
↣ Negative thoughts can start from having a negative feeling about someone because they did something to you. There is no point in holding those thoughts against them because it is a lot of work and energy, just forgive them and focus on other things that make you happy.
↣ Be thankful for what you have today rather than what you cannot achieve yet because it takes time to get to your goals, think positive day by day by thinking at least you are doing what you are doing on a daily basis to get to where you would like to be.
↣ Even if you are trying to get to your goals and come over a hard time, think of your goal as the main reason as to why you are doing it and focus on the positive.

2. Being open-minded
↣ Talk to your friends - it doesn't have to be everything and everyone but just get a few things on your mind out there and it will help you feel lighter on the inside.
↣ If you need to ask help from someone, even a stranger, just ask because it will help save time and maybe even make friends.
3. Have a routine and focus on your health
↣ I have a diary where I organise my life in. I usually do this as I come across each task that I have to do or sometimes the night before because I then know what to focus on the next day without having to worry about it. Once I know what I'm doing, I know I'm actually doing it to achieve my goals.
↣ I also plan workout into my daily routine. I used to just focus on work and have working out as my side thing but now I schedule it in. I have a calendar attached to my wall to keep track of my daily record and I'm proud of it.  I also focus on what I eat now and it is really good for my health.
↣ Make time for yourself, no matter how busy you are, schedule a time for rest and catch up with friends because you will need it. I read a lot of self help books in my free time as well so I can learn about how to better myself and things that I can improve on.

If you read through this carefully, you will realise that I am actually working on myself and focusing what I can do to make my life better and to be in a place where I would like to be rather than being sad about what I can't have now. It is not easy to change to this sort of mind set in one go but give it a try because it really does help. After doing this, I have noticed the positive changes to my life and the way I look at things which really helped!
